Maternity Leave, Covered

A step-by-step guide to leaving work well.

Weekly emails that help you plan you maternity leave — one clear step at a time. Calm, practical and designed to leave work covered.

We talk about Pregnancy.

We talk about babies.

We don’t talk about what happens to our confidence, our ambition or our place at work.

We don’t properly understand our rights.
We aren’t prepared for the cognitive shift.
We don’t plan our return.

So women work it out alone — often at the moment we have the least time and energy to do so.

Becoming a parent rewires your brain, your priorities and your professional identity.

It’s called matrescence — it’s the biggest shift since adolescence.

AND MOST WOMEN WALK INTO IT UNPREPARED.

THE COVER Club IS HERE TO CHANGE THAT.

With our step-by-step emails to help you prepare for maternity leave and a 56-card toolkit to take from telling your boss you’re pregnant to your return to work, The Cover Club helps career-focused women step away with confidence and return on their terms.

Each card tackles one moment, question or tension — from telling your boss you’re pregnant, through time away from work, to the reinvention that often comes with returning.

Some cards explain your rights.
Some explain what’s happening in your brain.
Some offer prompts, strategies or language when things feel stuck.

It’s designed to be used slowly, pulled out when you need it — not read cover to cover in one go.

To Take you from chaos to confidence.

Two small boxes, one labeled "The Cover Kit" with a description for pregnancy, maternity leave, and motherhood support, featuring abstract artwork and text about navigating change confidently. The other box has a message welcoming to the club, mentioning becoming a parent is wild, with abstract illustrative elements.

This toolkit won’t change a nappy or help with sleepless nights.

But it will help you plan the work part of your life, so you can focus on the other stuff and ride the wave of parenthood as smoothly as possible.

Most people who buy The Cover Kit aren’t pregnant.

They’re friends, colleagues, managers or mentors who know how disorienting this period can be — and want to offer something more meaningful and lasting than a babygrow.

It’s the kind of gift that says:
“I see what’s coming, and you don’t have to figure it out alone.”

A person holding a colorful pamphlet with the text 'HELLO. NICE TO MEET YOU. YOU SEEM FAMILIAR. BUT DIFFERENT.' on the left side and 'PARENTING IS NOT TIME OFF. IT'S THE MOST INTENSIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME YOU'LL EVER GO THROUGH.' on the right side, with a few abstract colorful shapes at the bottom.

Judgement-free advice, emotional insight and tools backed by science and the lived experience of working mums.

And not a single “you’ve got this, mama!” in sight.

MATERNITY LEAVE ISN’T JUST TIME AWAY FROM WORK. IT’S A WHOLE LIFE TRANSITION. YOUR BRAIN CHANGES, YOUR BODY CHANGES, YOUR PRIORITIES CHANGE.

YOU’VE GOT A BABY WHO NEEDS YOU IN WAYS NO ONE ELSE DOES. AND A CAREER YOU’VE WORKED HARD TO BUILD. BOTH MATTER DEEPLY.

The card has a light blue background with blue and purple text reading 'Your roles don't just compete. They complement.' and additional smaller text. The woman has fair skin, light brown eyes, and a small nose piercing, and she is smiling slightly.

Hi, I’m Bea.

I want to make maternity leave the best thing that ever happens to your career.

I’ve taken two maternity leaves myself — and I’ve also covered two maternity roles. Each time, I saw the same pattern: women are expected to plan their own leave from scratch, then return to work as if nothing meaningful has changed.

But maternity leave does change you — often in ways that make you better at your job.

And yet, we talk about “baby brain” instead of the Mother Brain Advantage. We ignore the evidence that mothers of two are the most productive knowledge workers. And we frame work and family as being in conflict, denying the many ways they strengthen each other.

I started The Cover Club to support this transition — from work, to parenthood, to working parenthood — with clear frameworks, practical tools and evidence-based guidance. So you can step away with confidence and return on your own terms.

Because your children matter. And so does your career.
